Web 2.0

I’ve been giving a lot of thought to our class assignment for a social media report referencing “at least 15 social media sites spread across at least three of the four following areas: Blogs/Microblogging, Wikis, Social Networking (including both sites and groups), and Social Media (Vlogs/Podcasts/Citizen Journalism/Audio/Video).”   It’s a bit overwhelming given that this is new terrain.  But I found a website that has been hugely helpful.  Actually, you can get consumed by it.  I’ve said this before; there is so much out there—it’s hard to know where to start.  Here’s the site:  gotoweb201.jpg (which I’ve mentioned in a prior post).  If you try it, you might want to sort by name instead of date (upper right corner) so you don’t loose your place–which kept happening to me.  Each Web 2.0 site has a description and a link.  The other helpful tool is the Web 2.0 Toolbar web-20-toolbar.jpg.  I downloaded it and it’s pretty cool.  I don’t know if I’ll keep it for the long haul (screen space is precious on a laptop)—but it sure does help me negotiate the “social media sites.”

One Response to “Web 2.0”

  1. Phenomenal resource Becky! I am glad now I procrastinated on getting into my assignment. This will make it easier. It is a great place not only to suggest sites I don’t know, but to remind me of some I had heard about but could not place.

    Thanks!
